Man injured jumping off a traffic light after “Good Samaritan” tries to “save” him<br/>On May 24, a topless man climbed a traffic light about 10 meters high in Changsha, the capital city of central China’s Hunan Province. The police soon arrived and persuaded him to come down. However, after being taken away from the scene, the topless man returned, climbing the traffic light again. A passerby tried to help the man down with a broom, with no success. Ignoring warnings from police officers, the passerby grabbed a 3-meter plastic pole to reach the man. At the same time, an air cushion was set up under the traffic light. The passerby then began to knock the man with the pole, trying to force him down to the cushion. Angered by repeated knocks, the man jumped towards the passerby, and unfortunately fell to the ground, missing the air cushion underneath.   The man was then rushed to the hospital, and doctors described his condition as critical. His identity remains unknown. Meanwhile, police are investigating into the passerby's controversial act of trying to knock the man off with a pole. Força Aérea Portuguesa salva 34 migrantes vítimas de explosão no Mediterrâneo (28mai17)<br/>No decorrer de uma missão de vigilância marítima no Mar Mediterrâneo, a tripulação da aeronave C-295M da Força Aérea Portuguesa, ao serviço da Agência FRONTEX, detetou uma embarcação com 34 migrantes a bordo, que sem razão aparente explodiu, tendo os seus tripulantes ficado à deriva no mar. A tripulação da aeronave C-295M, após a explosão, assumiu o comando das operações de resgate no local, tendo lançado um bote salva vidas (KIT MA-1) e coordenado, em conjunto com o Centro de Busca e Salvamento de Almeria, o encaminhamento de vários meios de socorro, entre os quais o pesqueiro “Miguel Rubino” e um helicóptero de salvamento da Helimer. O kit de salvamento, lançado através da aeronave C-295M da Esquadra 502 – “Elefantes”, permitiu salvar grande parte dos migrantes que antes da chegada do meio aéreo (helicóptero) e dos meios marítimos, apenas contavam com o bote salva vidas para sobreviver no mar. Os 34 migrantes foram resgatados com sucesso, tendo a tripulação da Esquadra 502 da Força Aérea Portuguesa sido decisiva no salvamento. Posteriormente chegaram duas embarcações, a “Guardamar Polimnia” e a “Salvador Alcor”, que encaminharam todos os migrantes para terra. O destacamento português opera a partir da Base Aérea de Málaga, em Espanha, onde estará até ao final do mês de junho. Neste destacamento, a Esquadra 502 – “Elefantes” está a monitorizar situações de narcotráfico, de imigração ilegal e de poluição marítima pretendendo promover a estabilidade e a segurança em todo o Mar Mediterrâneo.
