French national Samia Lila, 25, thought the scaly surprise was a dog when it clambered its way into Mimosa Winery in the NSW South Coast.
Footage shows her blocking the 180cm long reptile from screaming customers before wrangling it outside with her bare hands, earning her the nickname 'Goanna Girl' online.
'I looked at it and thought it was a dog at first!...But then I realised it was a goanna,' she told Bega District News.
Ms Lila lost no time coming to the aid of customers when the reptile got too close for comfort, putting a chair in its path.
'I wasn't scared, I like reptiles so was a bit excited.

Автомобили Land Rover, Nissan Note и VW Jetta, скорее всего, восстановлению не подлежат. Nissan улетел в кювет и перевернулся. В Land Rover было 2 человека (самостоятельно вышли из машины), в VW - 1 (самостоятельно вышел из машины с ушибами и хромая), в Nissan - 4 человека (3 женщины и девочка лет 6. Водитель отделалась ушибами и ссадинами. Одна женщина с разбитой головой и жаловалась на боль в ногах, другая пришла в себя только к приезду скорой и тут же была на носилках унесена в машину. Ребёнок, скорее всего, отделалась ушибами и испугом. По крайнем мере, до приезда скорой ни на что не жаловалась).
