Bus Driver, Passengers Stop Suicide on Yangtze River Bridge A woman who attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was stopped by a driver and passengers of a passing-by bus on Sunday in the city of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province in east China.
A surveillance video shows that the driver leapt off the bus immediately after the bus stopped on the Yangtze River Bridge at noon on Sunday. The driver rushed at the woman who was standing on the guardrails of the bridge and seemed to jump off. The driver grasped the woman's arm and pulled her back.
But the woman became agitated and struggled hard to free herself.
Two bus passengers helped the driver drag the woman onto the bus at last.
Local police officers said the woman attempted to commit suicide due to squabbles with her family.
