Locals Help Pull out Pedestrians Buried under Overloaded Truck<br/>A truck loaded with sugarcanes overturned while taking a turn and buried two pedestrians on Thursday morning in Jingdong County of southwest China’s Yunnan Province.
Local residents in the province’s Wenjing Town rushed to the site to help pull out the pedestrians, at the same time informed the police and called for the ambulance.
The surveillance video footage showed how the locals got busy moving the sugarcanes away along with the police officers.
"It took the residents only over ten seconds to rush to the scene after they heard the sound. There were some 20 people helping to move the sugarcanes away, and finally pulled out the two injured from the pile of sugarcanes. They did make a difference by saving time before the medical workers arrived to attend to the injured people," said Zou Dezhi, head of the Wenjing Squadron, Traffic Police Brigade of Jingdong Public Security Bureau.
The traffic department investigated into the accident later and confirmed that the truck was overloaded and the driver did not slow down while making the turn.
